Next-Gen Fire
Suppression System

Data centers and other critical environments combine dense electronics, combustible materials, and uninterrupted energy, making them especially vulnerable to ignition. But beyond the fire protection, these spaces also require a solution that can keep up with the evolving demands of scalability, retrofitting, and environmental compliance.

Modular. Retrofittable. Scalable. No cylinders. Free from pressure.

“More than 30 years of trusted fire suppression innovation. Now cleaner than ever.”

DSPA.nl
The rising demand for sustainable fire suppression in sensitive and critical environments made it a natural path for DSPA to expand its portfolio. Relying on more than 30 years of proven aerosol expertise across 100+ countries, that legacy now grows into N2 Gen Fire Suppression, a nitrogen-based solution engineered for today’s most demanding applications.

How N2 Gen
Works in 5 Steps

01
Solid Bound
Compound Technology
Each N2 Gen generator stores a solid bound compound inside a sealed stainless-steel container, eliminating the need for pressurized cylinders, pressure zones, or wasted space.
02
Trigger by
detection system.
Once activated by a certified detection panel, the compound starts a controlled decomposition process.
03
Pure nitrogen,
activated instantly
This reaction generates inert nitrogen gas (IG-100), reducing oxygen levels to 11–12%. This level is below the combustion threshold but remains safe for short-term human exposure.
04
Clean discharge,
zero impact
In just 5 to 14 seconds (depending on the model), the gas is filtered, cooled, and released with no visibility loss, no thermal impact on equipment, and no environmental harm.
05
Even coverage,
easy replacement.
Specially designed nozzles ensure full 3D distribution across the protected volume. Once used, the unit is simply replaced. There’s no need for costly refills, complex servicing, or pipework.

Truly Clean.
Fully Compliant.

Not all clean agents are sustainable. The NFPA defines a clean agent as “an electrically non-conducting, volatile, or gaseous fire extinguisher that does not leave a residue upon evaporation.”

N2 Gen takes this concept further: it is PFAS-free, has zero ODP and zero GWP, and complies with the strictest international standards for clean-agent systems. Because a clean agent must also be clean for people and for the planet.

Nitrogen
is different.

Some systems still rely on PFAS-based compounds or high-GWP substances like HFCs, both under increasing global regulatory pressure due to their long-term environmental impact. These systems carry a ticking clock.

N2 Gen is different. It avoids these risks, offering a future-proof solution that meets the highest compliance standards without compromise.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Does N2 Gen release nitrogen in a gaseous form or as an aerosol?

N2 Gen releases pure nitrogen (IG-100) in a gaseous form.

The nitrogen is generated through a controlled decomposition of a solid-bound compound, but the discharge itself is fully gaseous with no solid particles, dust, or residue. This distinguishes it from aerosol-based systems, which involve a suspension of fine solid particles in gas. While both technologies use solid materials as a starting point, N2 Gen is classified as a clean inert gas system in accordance with standards like ISO 14520 and NFPA 2001.

How is the N2 Gen system activated?

N2 Gen units are electrically activated, either manually or automatically via certified fire detection and control panels. They are fully compatible with DSPA interfaces such as DECU4 and ACM, and can be connected in series using SCR or UAS modules, allowing flexible configurations and large-volume protection. For standalone applications, the system can also be equipped with the TPE-1B device, which includes thermal detection and automatic release.

What types of fires can N2 Gen protect against?

Nitrogen generators are intended for the protection against fires that fall under the Class A, B, and C categories.

Does the unit maintain safe oxygen levels for occupied spaces?

If N2 Gen is applied in areas where personnel may be present, it should only be used with a 30-second time delay and a system isolate switch to ensure safe evacuation before discharge. Oxygen is essential to life, and reducing levels below 12% may be hazardous. Exposure in spaces with oxygen concentrations of 10–12.5% should not exceed 5 minutes.

Is the discharge pressure safe for delicate equipment?

Yes. The N2 Gen system is designed to release nitrogen at a low and controlled discharge pressure, typically around 3 bar. Unlike pressurized cylinder-based systems, N2 Gen uses an internal solid propellant to generate gas on demand, eliminating high storage pressures and sudden shock bursts.

This low-pressure discharge:
• Ensures smooth gas diffusion, even in sensitive environments
• Prevents damage to circuit boards, cable systems, and servers
• Works safely in occupied rooms and tight enclosures without causing turbulence or airflow disruption

What’s the recommended clearance or mounting position for optimal performance?

N2 Gen units should be mounted on walls or ceilings, using brackets provided. The discharge outlet must remain unobstructed and oriented toward the center of the protected volume. The manual specifies a minimum clearance of 10 mm from the ceiling or side walls, depending on the unit size.

What is the operating temperature range of N2 Gen?

The system operates reliably in ambient temperatures between -20°C and +75°C at 95% RH. This wide range makes it suitable for environments with non-climate-controlled conditions, such as power rooms, marine enclosures, or outdoor cabinets.

Can the system withstand vibrations or moisture (e.g., industrial or marine use)?

Yes. The N2 Gen stainless-steel housing and sealed construction are built to resist mechanical shocks, vibrations and humidity. With no moving parts or exposed components, the system is well suited for harsh or mobile environments such as ships, industrial enclosures and battery containers.

Certifications

N2 Gen complies with internationally recognized standards for condensed aerosol and inert gas fire suppression systems. It is certified under EN 15276-1 and EN 15276-2, ISO 15779, EN 15004-1, EN 15004-8, BRL-K21045 SCP01, and BRL-K23003/02 (KIWA). These certifications confirm that N2 Gen meets stringent requirements for design, installation, safety, and environmental performance in critical applications.
